Real collaboration.

We are actively seeking collaboration with organisations that bring deep specialist experience to specific areas of our programme. For mammal monitoring, bird surveys, and amphibian work, we are looking for partners whose protocols and institutional knowledge we can draw on from the start - ensuring our data is both locally meaningful and internationally comparable from the first season rather than the fifth. The Nicoya Peninsula is underrepresented in the literature across all three groups. A long-term monitoring programme, designed rigorously from the outset, in a landscape with documented historical species loss and an active restoration programme, produces data that accumulates in value over time. Co-authorship on publications arising from a genuinely novel study area, and open access to a growing dataset deposited to the Global Biodiversity Information and BirdLife DataZone, are things we can offer organisations whose own work would benefit from a presence here.

Field surveys at the scale we are operating require equipment that a young NGO cannot acquire outright. We are particularly interested in partnerships around camera trap arrays and acoustic recording units - whether through loan, discounted supply, or access to equipment that is underutilised between your own field seasons. If your organisation has field equipment sitting between deployments, we would welcome a conversation about how it might be put to work in one of Central America's most significant biological corridors in the interim.

We welcome academic researchers and graduate students whose work aligns with our programme - in landscape ecology, conservation biology, community social science, or restoration ecology. The study area offers research opportunities that are genuinely rare: a landscape with documented historical species loss, an active restoration and connectivity programme, a community engagement process generating primary social science data, and a long-term monitoring design being built from scratch. We are looking for researchers and postgraduate students who possess the technical skills to contribute to high-integrity field science. If you are seeking a study site that offers a genuine research gap, or a supervisor looking for a placement capable of producing publishable results, we would like to hear from you.

We share our data openly - all occurrence records are deposited to the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, the Wildlife Picture Index, and BirdLife DataZone as field seasons are completed and quality checks are passed. Pre-publication data sharing with collaborating organisations is available under a data sharing agreement that protects both parties during the peer review process. We are equally interested in receiving data. Historical occurrence records, regional population estimates, or camera trap detection histories from adjacent landscapes would strengthen our models and our monitoring baselines. If your organisation holds data relevant to the Nicoya Peninsula or other areas of Costa Rica, we would welcome a conversation about how it might be used.
